FEYNLAB® Overcoat V3

Overcoat V3 is an easy-to-use and the best in class top coating for your ceramic coated vehicles. This new and improved version is compatible with our current high-performance ceramic coatings such as the Original Ceramic, Ceramic V3 and Ceramic Ultra, as well as our self-healing coatings, Heal lite and Heal Plus. This makes this product an ideal and universal top coating for enhancing our coatings’ hydrophobicity and self-cleaning properties.

Overcoat V3 can also be used as a maintenance topper.


THE STORY BEHIND OVERCOAT V3

With the introduction of Ceramic V3 and its superior hydrophobic properties, it was not recommended to apply Overcoat V2 over it, as Ceramic V3 had the best-performing hydrophobics. In order to maintain the same level of hydrophobics and self-cleaning ability that we are seeing with Ceramic V3, we have had to make significant improvements to Overcoat. The new Overcoat V3 matches the hydrophobics and self-cleaning properties of Ceramic V3. We’ve borrowed what we have learned with the extensive development of Ceramic V3, and applied it to Overcoat. The Ceramic V3 has had an overwhelmingly positive response because of its hydrophobic and self cleaning properties, with the new Overcoat V3 it allows us to extend these properties across our range of coatings.

The main properties of Overcoat V3 was compatibility with our other coatings, ease of use, and extreme self cleaning and hydrophobic properties. Compatibility with our entire range of coatings means that this product is a universal top coating that can be used to immediately elevate the hydrophobic and self cleaning properties of any of our coatings, or as a maintenance topper to make sure that the coating properties are maintained. Ease of use is something that we are paying a lot of attention to with the new developments in our lineup. Overcoat V3 is extremely easy and forgiving to use. The main improvements with Overcoat V3 have been the self cleaning and hydrophobic properties, which are now best-in-class amongst top coating products.


ADDS WATER SPOT RESISTANCE

OVERCOAT V3 keeps exterior vehicle surfaces cleaner for longer due to its superior hydrophobic and self-cleaning properties. Surfaces coated with this product will have a lower water slide angle, allowing it to easily roll off the surface, reducing the potential for water spots. This means vehicles will remain cleaner over time and, when washing, water and contamination will release from the surface with ease.


COMPATIBLE WITH OTHER COATINGS

Overcoat V3 is compatible with our entire range of ceramic and self-healing coatings, which improves its hydrophobicity and self-healing properties. As a result, this topcoat is extremely versatile and universal. This product can also be used as a maintenance topper to keep the coating properties in good condition.


SUPER SLICK

Overcoat V3’s super low free surface energy makes the surface feel silky smooth to the touch and has super hydrophobic properties. This property will help to improve the water sheeting and self-cleaning properties of any of our ceramic coatings.

Application Instructions

STEP 1: PREPPING THE SURFACE

  • Thoroughly clean vehicle using FEYNLAB® PURE WASH.
  • Follow with a topical decontamination clay treatment using FEYNLAB® PRIME. If necessary, use a ferrous iron removal product to remove all embedded iron deposits.
  • After polishing paint to the desired level, remove all polish oils using FEYNLAB® PANEL PREP to ensure optimal bonding and durability of the coating.
  • Prior to application, place the vehicle in a well-lit, temperature controlled (10°C 30°C/50°F-85°F), and contaminated free environment. Have plenty (6 or more) new microfiber towels, 3-2 microfiber sponge applicators, or 2-1 foam applicators on hand BEFORE application.
  • Once the car is prepared, we recommend taping off and protecting all unapproved surfaces. By performing this step, you minimize the risk of etching by the solvents in OVERCOAT V3 on unapproved surfaces* such as rubber lining around windows and doors.
  • *Avoid these surfaces with OVERCOAT V3 and wipe off immediately if any contact occurs.
  • Shake the product vigorously for 30 seconds before use.
  • If applying over another FEYNLAB® coating, wait 2 hours (minimum of 1.5 and a maximum of 3 hours) for the base coating to set up. Then apply in the same application pattern as the base coating.

STEP 2: APPLYING THE PRODUCT

  • Apply enough OVERCOAT V3 to a microfiber applicator to fully cover 2 panels.
  • Make a “+” (plus) sign with the product in the middle of the panel, then wipe around the boundaries of the section creating a frame.
  • Next, fill in the framed area with slightly overlapping horizontal (left to right) straight lines over the entire panel. After, switch to vertical overlapping lines. This cross-hatching pattern ensures even application.
  • Immediately wipe the 2 panels that have OVERCOAT V3 on them, following the same pattern of application, using two clean microfiber towels.
    – Towel A (left hand) will remove (level) the majority of coating residue.
    – Towel B (right hand) will remove any remaining residue, revealing a crystal clear surface.
  • If the surface is difficult to wipe clear (hazy) reduce the application area.
  • Recommended Maximum Area of Application: 2 panels ONLY, then wiping off in the same pattern as the application.

STEP 3: FINAL INSPECTION

  • Carefully inspect all finished panels for any leftover coating residue (high spots) during the final wipe. Commonly edges, emblems, and other tight areas may contain some remaining residue. High spots are much easier to remove if caught within a 40-20 min window after the final wipe than later, when the coating has set-up and curing has started.
  • Avoid any incidental water exposure for 24 hours. If it occurs, gently wipe water off the surface.
    – Avoid all chemicals, including car washes for 7 days.
    – Wash & Maintain using FEYNLAB® PURE WASH or FEYNLAB® PURE RINSELESS.

INFRARED CURING

OVERCOAT V3 Alone
Bake each panel with an IR lamp to reach a surface temperature of 60°C (140°F) for 15 min at a distance of ~36-30″ from the panel.

OVERCOAT V3 OVER ANOTHER COATING

  • If applying over another coating, install base coating layer first per instructions for that coating.
  • Wait 2 hours*, then install OVERCOAT V3 in the same application pattern as the base coating.
  • After OVERCOAT V3 is applied to all surfaces, immediately bake each panel with an IR lamp to reach a surface temperature of 60°C (140°F) for 15min at a distance of ~ 36-30″ from the panel.
  • *In order to form a covalent bond, Overcoat V3 should be applied within 1.5 to 8 hours of base coating.
